- Boxcar Scars: Boxcar Scars are caused when acne heals and pus is filled in it leaving spaces. Therefore, dermatologists suggest not to pick or squeeze acne because it can increase the risk of scars. The most commonly occurs in the area of the face with thick skin such as lower cheeks and jaws. Smoking can be a major cause of Boxcar Scars as smoking leads to develop acne. - Rolling Scars: Rolling Scars are soft, smooth, shallow edged scars that are caused due to long-term inflammatory acne. These scars are not permanent and can fade away with time. The skin facing Rolling Scars can lose natural tightness and elasticity. Rolling Scars appear as depressions and deep structures filled with collagen. Various treatments can be done to cure Rolling Scars such as fractional laser resurfacing, dermal fillers and radiofrequency.

2. Hypertrophic Scars:
The acne scars caused due to the excess of tissues are known as Hypertrophic Scars. They are red or brown colored scars that appear as wounds on the skin. Hypertrophic Scars can occur on knees, elbows and extensor surfaces.
Hypertrophic Scars has one subclassification:

- Keloids Scars: Keloids scars are abnormal scars that are irregular and overgrown on the skin. They occur on the various parts of the body such as elbows, upper arms, cheeks, shoulders, and earlobes. Keloids Scars are removed surgically.
